A Burning Heart

I know this will upset many Christians, but my heart burns within me because our pulpits have deceived so many people into thinking that their dead faith will save them (See James 2:26). Brothers and sisters, if you say that you love Jesus and don’t love your brothers or sisters in Christ, you are a liar. Those are self-refuting points. Don’t you see? If you say that you follow Christ and live your life for yourself, you are a liar! Don’t you see that it is those who walk with Jesus that know Jesus?

Dear brothers and sisters, many of us have got our heads down and are walking through life unaware of the desperate need for Christ’s love in the world around them; even in the Church around them! How many Christians go to Church and feel utterly lonely and isolated in the very pews they “sing the praises of Christ’s love”? We leave the lonely and discouraged to go home after two hours of worship and get on with our lives. We leave the lost in our communities to burn in hell so that we can get a little more “me time”.

This cannot be.

Luke 9:23 (CSB) — 23 Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

1 John 3:10 (CSB) — 10 This is how God’s children and the devil’s children become obvious. Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother or sister.

1 John 4:20–21 (CSB) — 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And we have this command from him: The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.

In so many cases we have substituted “knowledge” or “revelation” for “love” as the distinguishing mark of the Christian life. So many people go to prayer rooms, read their Bibles, sing enthusiastic worship songs, and then actively deceive, and slander, and covet, and practice all the sins of hate known in this world. No. This cannot be. This will not be.

Matthew 7:22–23 (CSB) — 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’

Your life. Your heart. Your time. Your thoughts. Your beliefs. Everything must be submitted to Christ or he will take nothing of you.
