Colossians 2:1–3 (CSB) — 1 For I want you to know how greatly I am struggling for you, for those in Laodicea, and for all who have not seen me in person. 2 I want their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of complete understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery—Christ. 3 In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
This was something God laid on my heart while I was preparing my sermon for Sunday that I felt I needed to share regarding knowing Christ in unity. And this was something that hit me like a ton of bricks: all of Paul’s suffering was purposed to encourage and join us together in love so that we would be able to possess the complete riches of understanding and knowing God’s mystery: Christ. Wow!!
Does this purpose take hold of our hearts and lives the way it took hold of Paul’s? Are we pursuing it the way he pursued it with his whole life?
I certainly hope so, because Christ is worthy!
Hebrews 1:1–3 (CSB) — 1 Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
