In this video, I am preaching on the subject of losing our first love as Christians from Revelation 2:1-7:
This lesson examines Jesus’ words to the Ephesian church, who had abandoned their first love and were now being driven by other things in their view. Our aim in this lesson is to identify what their first love was and what it meant to abandon their first love.
Revelation 2:1–7 (CSB) — 1 “Write to the angel of the church in Ephesus: Thus says the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and who walks among the seven golden lampstands: 2 I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them to be liars. 3 I know that you have persevered and endured hardships for the sake of my name, and have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. 6 Yet you do have this: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
Biblical Reasons 
I love it when from distance people can see a Calvinist bent out of shape because Jesus with his own lips is saying you can lose your salvation. from Romans 11 being cut off and the warning, to the dog turning back to its vomit, to the fearful expectation of things to come. Verses in Revelation suggest someone was saved and turned back. Re working what the wording says when its obvious its not saying what you want it to say nor is the author trying to say different is sad for those who just have to admit, their theology is wrong. We all believe God is sovereign BUT he himself gave us free will and natures that can chose good, even though we have all gone astray everyone. Its why he presented the gospel verbally because he gave us choice and mind and heart that seeks for him. even though in other places he says none of us seek for him. Grope or seek, lets not fight over terms.
IF you lost your first love, get it back, Or you will go to hell. The author is obviously saying the love for God. the church lost that. And obviously it doesn’t mean every single person in the church but is used in a general sense.
