We Do Not Perish: Lamentations 3:22-27

Lamentations 3:22–27 (CSB) — 22 Because of the LORD’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! 24 I say, “The LORD is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.” 25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who seeks him. 26 It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD. 27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.

Every moment of life that we enjoy is because of the LORD’s faithful love; every time that we rose up again after a fall was because of his great unending mercies that are new every morning.

Therefore, this hope drives my life forward no matter how dark the night gets: “the LORD is my portion”!

Americans may be watching their nation burn and feel like there is no hope; “people are too divided for these wounds to heal”.

Hong Kongers may be watching their city be encircled by the tentacles of oppression and feel like they have fallen never to rise again: “we have become slaves to a giant who is too strong to overcome”.

But this truth is my rock: “the LORD is good to those who wait QUIETLY for his salvation.” Therefore, I will bear whatever yoke I must now because I know the blood of Christ has broken the chains of bondage by which my soul once was held captive to the gloom of death.
